GED TEACHER
Location: Highlands, NC
Contract Duration: Once a week for 3 months (with the opportunity to extend based on performance and program needs)
Salary: $100 per session
Overview: The Literacy and Learning Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced GED (General Education Development) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for adult education, a strong background in GED instruction, and the ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:

Conduct GED Classes: Plan and deliver engaging and effective GED classes, covering all subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reasoning through Language Arts) to adult learners.

Individualized Instruction: Provide individualized support to students based on their learning needs, ensuring each participant receives the necessary guidance and assistance to succeed.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Administer assessments to evaluate students' academic levels, track progress, and adapt teaching methods accordingly.

Curriculum Development: Create a GED curriculum, incorporating innovative teaching methods and materials.

Create a Positive Learning Environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and a positive attitude toward learning.

Communication and Collaboration: Regularly communicate with students, parents, and staff regarding progress, challenges, and achievements.

Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest developments in adult education, GED testing, and teaching methodologies. Attend workshops or training sessions to enhance teaching skills.

Bilingual Support (Preferred) - While not mandatory, proficiency in Spanish is preferred. The ability to communicate in Spanish may enhance the learning experience for some students.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required

State teaching certification and GED teaching experience

Proven ability to work effectively with adult learners, including those with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Familiarity with GED testing requirements and curriculum development.

Flexibility and adaptability to meet the unique needs of adult learners.
